Shoes | A Guide to Summer Sandals

*sponsored post

For the past few years, gladiator sandals have been the summer footwear choice for
fashionistas and celebrities alike. Sienna Miller and Mischa Barton are just a few of
the A-listers who’ve been papped on the red carpet this season wearing these stylish
yet comfortable shoes. However, with so many different styles appearing on the high
street, the choice can be overwhelming. Take a look at this simple guide to the many
different types of summer sandals on the market.

Woven gladiator sandals are ultra-cool and combine two of this season's top trends:
gladiator styling and basket weave uppers. Typically featuring an open toe and high
ankle design, these flats really are this summer’s must-have sandals. The hot colours
this season are teal, multiple metallic and simple sexy black.

Ankle cuff sandals are the most recent spinoff of sandals - and they're appearing all
over the high street. Flat cuff sandals are sexy and stylish and they look great paired
with short casual skirts, dresses or tailored shorts.

Really go to town with your sandals this summer. Choose from pairs with skimpy
leather straps, buckled ankle fastenings and silver chained mesh loops, or opt for
shoes with knotted straps adorned with pretty pearls or beads. These sandals have
plenty of edge to them and are available in loads of cool colours, including purple,
bronze and gray. Pick up a pair with back zippers that are easy to slip into.

Funky sandals with studs are everywhere you look this season. Studded gladiator
sandals are perfect with most outfits – especially skirts, shorts and leggings.
Combining the tough and edgy with the feminine, these sandals are especially good
for a more casual look. The studding detail and gladiator design works particularly
well against subtle beige and white hues. Other cool colours for studded sandals are
red, black, midnight blue or brown.

High wedge sandals are perfect for a formal and sexy look. Choose a pair with back
zippers if you want to get heads turning. Dressier than most types of sandals, you
can wear them with your favourite skinny jeans, or with a little black dress. Must-
haves for a night on the town, wedge heels come in all kinds of colours and styles -
metallic silver and gold are particularly on-trend this season.
